Self-Pay Screening

All self-pay patients should be screened to determine if they qualify for funding through one or more entitlement programs, as this can be a key source for reimbursement resulting in a reduction of uncompensated care and bad debt inventory.

On-Site Representatives

Our on-site patient representatives perform vital functions at your facilities, including screening referred patients bedside for program eligibility. On-site representatives complete screening log sheets tracking all accounts referred, including those discharged prior to referral for complete accountability of self-pay accounts listing. Our representatives work with your clinical team to obtain required medical forms and documentation. Accounts are coded in your system with the Medicaid financial class and Hospital Referral Services responsibility code. Accounts are notated with updates on a regular basis to communicate the status of the determination process.

 

Off-Site Representatives

Our seasoned patient representatives have extensive and up-to-date knowledge of Medicaid, Social Security, and other governmental programs. Our representatives assist patients with the application process and gather all necessary documentation from government agencies such as Social Security, as well as doctors' offices, employers, and banks. Patient representatives have access to vast company resources to locate patients with disconnected phone numbers and bad addresses.

 

Field Representatives

Our field representatives complete home visits to assist patients with applications and to gather required documentation for patients who are uncooperative or need additional support and assistance. Field representatives also attend patient appointments and hearings at Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Social Security Administration.

1. Medicaid for the Disabled/Healthy Start & Families.

2. Dual Applications: When a patient is eligible for multiple programs, such as Medicaid and Social Security, HRS assists the patient step-by-step throughout every application processes.

3. Nursing Home: HRS can assist the client in making a smooth transition from their facility to a Nursing facility by obtaining pending numbers and completing a resource assessment.

4. Special Needs Patients: HRS currently works with special needs patients, such as the Mentally Handicapped, Vision & Hearing impaired and all chronically ill children covered through the Bureau for Children with Mental Handicaps.

5. Deceased Patients: HRS has extensive experience with deceased patients protocols. We will use all resources available such as the patient's Next of Kin, Funeral Home, and Vital Statistics Office to gather all required information.

6. HRS can assist in Social Security Enrollment.

7. HRS can assist in Denial Follow Up.

8. HRS can assist in State Hearings.

9. Out-of-State Medicaid: HRS will immediately request a UB from the client upon identifying a patient with out-of-state Medicaid eligibility. HRS will assist with the complete Medicaid application process and will also obtain a provider packet to expedite billing if necessary.
